Aka one of the best horror anthologies out there! Seriously how did a movie with such an all star cast never get a theatrical release? I think we’ll never really know the answer.
Either way the new Scream Factory release is dope and I’m really hoping Dougherty is sticking to his plan of making a sequel after he finishes Godzilla. Which would mean next year.

This movie is fantastic. I'm glad that it has rightfully earned a cult following despite the studio dumping it straight to video, and I can't wait for the sequel. Here's hoping Dougherty has spent the last 10+ years crafting a worthy followup. I still haven't gotten around to watching the new SF Collector's Edition, but that's on my agenda in the near future.

I didn't even know it had a Scream Factory release... but I'm not surprised to see that it sold out on preorders alone over a month before it was even released. This was truly a great film, and it's a shame how the studio screwed it over for petty reasons.

The way that this movie was treated makes zero sense. Even if the studio didn't see it being a financial hit in theaters, they had already spent at least *some* money on promotion by the time they pulled the plug on the theatrical release since posters were already produced (one of which I proudly display on my bedroom wall every time Fall rolls around). Even a limited release would've made more sense than just dumping it on video.
At least in the case of other notoriously delayed-and-dumped movies, there usually seems to be some kind of reasoning for it, no matter how unsound. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, one of my personal faves, was dropped in 2007 due to the failure of Grindhouse (and a test screening gone horribly wrong apparently). This movie had positive buzz from the beginning that could've been parlayed into a solid theatrical run, especially considering it's unlikely that Warner Bros. had that much money to recoup on this with it being relatively low-budget. But here we are, I guess, and it all worked out in the end.
