It comes from beneath the Earth to hunt innocent souls and it was that time to do so. It was October 31st and it emerged from the ground to hunt for it's prey. It's prey could be anything. Human or animal. It simply did not care.
The sound of crickets went silent as Melinda Carr walked up the side walk. Across the street from her, a row of houses, eerily silent, with pumpkins and lights on, revealed that the trick or treaters had long ago went home to count their booty or head to bed.
She was completely alone and it wasn't that late that no car drove up or down the road. The neighborhood had orange streetlamps so the lamps only illuminated a certain area underneath them. Melinda started to feel watched and paused. As she turned around in a small circle, she couldn't really see anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps it was a young kid playing a trick on her. "Ok, Dusty. Stop this." She demanded.
The block was still alit with the flickering spooky pumpkins and none of the street lamps were shutting off.
The air seemed to change in a matter of minutes. It was cold and she spun around hearing a growl. Melinda froze a moment before sprinting across the street to the nearest house.
Clack Clack Clack.
The claws of the creature echoed from the concrete of the road, rushing towards the young woman. It's gnashing pearly whites extending forward, nipping at her heels.
Melinda gave a cry as something emerged out of the shadows. She didn't know what it was and felt her adrenaline rushing through her body.
The creature leaped into the air and landed on the young woman's body, holding her down, keeping her immobilized by it's claws. It was digging into her back.
Melinda let out a terrified scream as she was knocked down, feeling pain as claws dug into her shoulders. She felt the oozing blood and screamed in pain. She believed she was going to be eaten or something.
The creature had other plans. It leaned down, grabbing her clothes with its sharp teeth. Then it dragged her to it's home.
Melinda felt the rough concrete as she was dragged into the netherlands. She was frightened, and promptly passed out from the pain and blood loss.
