PREMISE
When the most popular girls at a prestigious prep school accidentally murder their best friend, they cover it up and go on with their lives. They soon find that being friends with a missing person gets you, like, tons of sympathy—but also plenty of unwelcome scrutiny which threatens to destroy their friendship, their futures, and their lives.
CHARACTERS
REGAN GREGSON-TWEED. 17. Fiery, intense, motivated. A social activist. Strong-arms her way into the position of de facto leader after Lila’s “disappearance”. Regan will stop at nothing to be on top.
AMELIA KELLOGG. 17. Smart and resourceful, but also idealistic and naïve. Lila’s disappearance is a wake-up call for her, as she realizes that she and the other girls were only there to serve Lila’s agenda — and now, Valedictorian is up for grabs.
FEFE D’ANGELO. 17. Image-obsessed. People think they walk all over her because she’s not “smart” in a classic sense — but she’s very in control. Lila’s former V.P., Fefe will be the school’s next leader — but not if Regan has her way.
HAZEL LOWENSTEIN. 17. Intensely type-A aspiring filmmaker. She’s taken charge of the video yearbook, and wants to create a segment dedicated to the missing Class President. She hopes that the segment will go viral and earn her a film school scholarship.
KIP ROMERO. 17. Class president at the all-boys prep school on the other side of the woods. Holds himself responsible for her disappearance because she was traveling to see him. Closeted gay. Lila knew. Nobody else does. Yet.
JAKE GOGGINS. 17. Kip's vice president. Cripplingly shy, he refuses to speak in front of people he does not know and relies on Kip to be his mouthpiece.
BEATRICE ‘BEA’ ROMERO. 16. Kip’s younger sister. Goes to school with the girls. Highly unpopular, she’ll do anything to ascend through the high school ranks — including exploiting the sympathy surrounding Lila’s disappearance.
ENID BEAVERS. 60. Headmistress — and Lila’s mother. Feels trapped in a loveless marriage and a boring life. She lives vicariously through her successful, pretty daughter.
HERB BEAVERS. 65. Enid’s husband. Lila’s father. Headmaster to the nearby all-boys school. Enid and Herb have an intense rivalry. They say it keeps their marriage fresh, but Lila’s disappearance threatens to destroy their already-tenuous balance.
SECURITY DAVE. 35. The school’s clueless security guard. Gangly and awkward. The only man on the school’s staff. Never seems to be watching the cameras when he should be.
PRIVATE DETECTIVE DUNPHY. 50. Brought in specifically by Herb to oversee the case. He’s had her on retainer for a few years, after he began to suspect that his wife was being unfaithful. Enid doesn’t want her around.
AGENT GEBHARD. 55. An FBI Agent that Enid gets in contact with, frustrated with the lack of progress on the case. A no-nonsense presence who trusts no one — least of all teenage girls. Could be described as a woman who hates women.
LILA BEAVERS. 17. Class president. Beautiful, popular, and intelligent, she truly is the teen dream. Or is she? Her friends would argue otherwise.
