PREMISE: A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. This time around, Chucky is a "smart" doll who can connect to all kinds of devices in order to make its owner's life easier (or also try to kill its owner, as Chucky is wont to do).
Despite some misgivings about Chucky's look, I really like what I'm seeing from this. It helps that its posters, and in particular the two Toy Story 4-inspired ones, are pretty incredible so far. The marketing for this has been pretty spectacular. It's somewhat troubling that the production came together so quickly, and that they've very clearly been trying to hide Chucky's face as much as possible up until recently - most likely because they know that it looks... rough. Still, the trailers look promising enough, and the cast is strong enough, that I'm willing to throw caution to the wind and get genuinely excited for this. Hopefully it's not a huge letdown.
